Talentime Special at Auditorium RTM, Kuala Kedah

On 30th of October 2010, the Welfare Department of Kedah, organized a Talentime Special event at Auditorium RTM, Kuala Kedah. It was a smart partnership between BIDARA and also Welfare Department of Kedah (under the supervision of People With Disabilities Unit). The event started of as early as 9 am in the  morning with some simple breakfast that is provided for the participants and also guest of honor. Soon, the Talentime Special Competition finally begin at 9.30 am. Head judge was asked to explain the rules and regulation of today  talentime competition.

Altogether there are 11 Community Development Center that take part in this competition/ event. They are from various district all over Kedah. Starting with Kubang Pasu, Baling, Kulim, Bandar Baru, Langkawi, Kuala Muda, Pendang, Sik, Kota Setar, Yan, and Padang Terap. The competition is divided into 3 categories. Singing competition (Duet and Single) and also dancing competition (group).


Invitation guests from BIDARA, BAKTI and JKM arrive before the competition begin. Around 10.00 am, the Director of Welfare Department of Kedah, Tuan Haji Zulkiply bin Ramli, SSP., BCK,. PMP  arrived with his beloved wife to attend the event. Competition ended around 11.45 am. Audience and the contestants as well as invitation guest are given a half an hour break while waiting for the Guest of Honor to arrive.





Guest of Honor, Dato' Seri Diraja Madzir arrive for the closing ceremony event. He gave a very good and interesting speech and finally officially close the event for the day. The results was announced, for the Single Singing Categogy; First Prize: Baling; Second Prize: Kubang Pasu; Third Prize:  For the Duet Singing Category;First Prize: Baling; Second Prize: Kubang Pasu; Third Prize: For the Dancing  Category; First Prize: Baling; Second Prize: Langkawi; Third Prize: Kubang Pasu

Overall, the competition was being conquered  by Community Development of Baling. Attending this event had made me feel differently towards the people with disabilities. They able to let me see that, though this world might a lot of obstacles and such, but yet they able to go through it and able to adapt themselves in this cruel world with their own adaptability. Their strong will, and the eagerness to learn and perform, make me feel more energetic to strive more and better in where I am now. As if they also can such will and strength, why can I? Sometimes, these are the people we should be with as they showed us the miracle of hope in their own way.

From 27 till 29 october 2010, a workshop for Welfare Department Volunteers had been conducted. 46 paticipants and 20 officers are involved in this 3 days 2 nights program. Started with ice breaking and it continued with a talk from Government Security Committee which revolves with what is Goverment Security Order. And the volunteers was being exposed to what are their roles when they were to ask to help out in at Disaster Shelter Center.

During the night session, it continues with a problem solving energizer. After that, they need to be in groups to discuss what they can do and suggest to upgrade a better service in each committee.  Presentation was conducted after the discussion. Volunteers continue with their workshop with simulation of train collides with 2 cars and an ammonia truck. This is the time they put theories in actions. WOOHOOOO!!!

Simulation finally comes to an end. Went back to hotel. Volunteers had a forum with other agencies from RED CRESENT SOCIETY, FIRE BRIGADE DEPARTMENT, PUBLIC DEFENSE DEPARTMENT, MINISTRY OF HEALTH and RAILWAY TRANSPORTATION. POSTMORTEM TIME!!! Everybody laughed at the LIVE VIDEO that was being played. Some even shared CRITIQUES and EXPERIENCE (THAT INCUDES FEELING). Everything went well and finally head back room and be prepared for tomorrow closing ceremony.

After the closing ceremony, we took a group photo. Participants saying thanks for the workshop that is conducted though some seems not to appreciate it, which is a sad case. Anyhow, it turned out to be a successful workshop. Thanks to the commitee involved for this 3 days 2 nights. Special thanks to Amy Suraya, Psychology Officer from Welfare Department Kulim District for being a good companion and colleuge. And finally able to head home at 12.30pm.

A warm day...yet cold

Today is warm at Jitra. So warm..that you feel like stripping off the clothes and walking naked. But this is Malaysia. No no naked around for fun. Might ended up in jail later. Why cold? Living in a house with just 2 cats and 2 sugar gliders. Yeah..a only human in the house is me. Anyway..this is the first time I am opening a blog. Hopefully there will be more upload from me and of course will try to make it as interesting as possible. Life is colourful after all..and even grey is a colour too...
